Wi-Fi access point

Wi-Fi access point

A Wi-Fi access point is a connectivity device (AP) that creates a wireless cell around it that users can connect to the network and through the network to the internet. Each AP cell has its own usable size depending on the building structure and materials, or if outside, distance, and the available bandwidth lessens the further from the centre you are. AP cells are normally designed to overlap such that you can roam from one cell to another without losing network connectivity.
