MDR

MDR

Mobile data routing (MDR) is where a networking device (typically known as a router) is connected to a wider network (a WAN) using SIMs installed in the router to connect to one or more of the mobile network operators (in the UK this is EE/BT, O2, Vodafone or 3, or a supplier using one of these MNO networks). The data is sent via the MNO’s network to an end point, which can be part of the customer’s network or to a service provider. MDR (mobile data routing) units in turn connect to the customer’s network (local area network – LAN) at the specific site where the MDR unit is based, allowing users to connect to the MDR-provided service.
