Low latency

Low latency

Low latency means that data packets sent over a network connection (or connections) arrive at the receiving end very quickly. Speed in this respect is measured in milliseconds and the lower the number of milliseconds to arrive at the data packet destination, the better (or lower) the latency. Low Latency is especially important for voice communications because if the latency is high, the data that carries the voice becomes out of sync and so communication by voice becomes impossible.
